Activist citizenship in non-Western and non-democratic contexts: how to define ‘acts of citizenship’

چکیده

The acts of citizenship framework emerged as an important innovation to the previous status- and practice-focused understanding with a landmark edited volume Acts Citizenship (2008). While theorisation through has predominantly from democratic context, theory holds that can happen in various cultural political contexts, should be studied multiple overlapping sites scales, rather than solely those linked nation-states. Yet, what happens when take place where rights are severely curtailed, very notion activist is rejected unlawful? And how performed differently they respond particular sensibilities? This essay aims extend repertoire citizenship, by emphasising why need treated different contexts under varying regimes.
